The Internal Medicine Consultation is a very comprehensive medical specialty, focused on applying scientific and clinical knowledge into the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of conditions that affect, by definition, various organs. These diseases, called systemic diseases, because they affect the body as a whole (such as diabetes, hypertension, and atherosclerosis) are highly complex in terms of how they appear and are treated. Often, these and other diseases can arise simultaneously in the same patient, making its clinical situation complex and its ability to recover sometimes more time-consuming.
